Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem
Allah (SWT) says:
“Verily, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, and so they will continue to spend it; but in the end it will become an anguish for them. Then they will be overcome. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto Hell.” ~ Al Anfal, 36
Allah tells us that it is in the nature of the Kuffar to avert men from the path of Allah. And that they will spend their billions to undermine the Islamic revival and take Muslims away from their Deen. But we are informed that in the end it will be an anguish for them, meaning they will come to rue and regret it.
In order for us to understand this vicious aggression today, we need to understand what the West are fighting. The plain of the battle is between Islam and Kufr and always will be, but specifically today they are fighting the Islamic revival, meaning they aim to supress the Ummah’s journey towards resuming the Islamic way of life.
So what is revival?
Literally, revival is a process of something which was once pure and alive, but had reached a state of almost death and then regained its consciousness, vigour and vitality. So the process from that state of almost death to a state of life is revival. So in terms of the Ummah, she was once full of vigour and vitality, like that of a healthy body which had no sign of disease. But then the Ummah, through ignorance and through deliberate intellectual attacks from the Kuffar, began to accept poisonous ideas that were not from her Aqeedah, like when the body’s anti-bodies fail to fight off the disease and it starts to spread around the body. Meaning the decline starts to set in and the whole body becomes sick, and this sickness became so bad that the body lost its natural protection i.e. the Islamic State. And so the Ummah reached a state of almost death. But this sick body began to move again and regain its consciousness after the Ummah realised that she needed to refer to the Islamic Aqeedah in order to solve her problems and to overcome this sickness, and so the process of revival began.
Being more specific, revival is intellectual elevation. Man is intellectually elevated when he adopts a comprehensive belief about life by answering the most basic of questions to do with where he came from, where he is going, and what is the relationship between this life and the next. This establishes the basis for living and so man uses this to decide how he will do what he does.
Revival is not something which is unique to Muslims, it is a universal concept which can apply to any people or society. So these three fundamental questions are comprehensively answered by three ideologies, namely Capitalism, Communism, and Islam. Although the people who embrace any of these ideologies are revived, only those who embrace Islam are revived in a sound or correct manner. So as Muslims we know that we came from Allah and will return to him, and that in this life we must obey Allah and refer to him in every aspect of our lives because we will be accountable to him on Yaumal Qiyamah. So the revived Muslim proceeds in life by referring every problem he faces back to the Islamic Aqeedah. Meaning all his solutions come from the Qur’an and Sunnah, whether they be personal, social, or political problems.
However, we must understand revival in the way it is applied to a society. So the question is, how does a society become revived? A society is defined by the common interests that the people of that society hold. The interests are those benefits and harms that the society agree upon. It establishes or accepts an authority in order to safeguard these interests. From a societal viewpoint, this translates into a unification within the society about the viewpoint of life emanating from the Aqeedah, resulting in a criteria of action. When the people in the society are unified on these concepts together with a system that acts to protect the interests, then we can say that this society is intellectually elevated or revived.
Madinah is an adequate example to illustrate this. Prior to the people of Madinah accepting Islam, they were fragmented into three groups, the Aws, the Khazraj and the Jews. They solved their problems by a mutual balance of interests, not on a unified basis that all three groups agreed upon. After the Aws and Khazraj accepted Islam, Islam became the basis upon which they all accepted. The system of Islam was accepted, with Muhammad (SAW) becoming head of state, and the interests, which were defined according to the criteria of halaal and haraam, were protected by the authority. So this illustrates how revival is linked to the establishment of an Islamic authority.
Establishing the Islamic Authority
Today, we have two prevailing methodologies of bringing about an Islamic authority, and neither of them can be compared to that which occurred in Medinah. It is imperative that we view both of these in the context of the political situation, as both situations have been used to directly benefit the Western cause and hinder the process of revival.
Firstly, the gradualist approach of establishing an Islamic authority through the existing system, which we saw fail in Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood. Here, even if the people had unified upon the basis of Islam, you cannot expect a non-Islamic system to protect their interests, the system here will actually do the opposite. Because in the same way the viewpoint of life emanates from the Aqeedah, the system must also emanate from the same Aqeedah. And this was obviously not the case.
So how did this benefit the West? The West wanted to portray to the Ummah that Islam is not compatible with politics, even this compromised pragmatic version of Islam. So within one year, the reputation of the Muslim Brotherhood was destroyed, and the only way they can come back onto the political scene is if they further water down their Islam to be able to fit into the civil democratic model or participatory democracy, which we see happening now with the Moderate Brotherhood youth slowly being accepted back into the political climate.
Secondly, the method of fighting to power which the West allowed through the treacherous organisation of ISIS. Here there is no relationship between the people and the entity (the Islamic State). Just because the people and the entity exist concurrently does not constitute a true Islamic State because the people or the Ummah must authorise the entity to protect its interests. If the Ummah does not give authority, then the Islamic State has no right to exist. But what is more significant is that the ISIS leadership has been in absolute cahoots with America! Every single action they have taken has assisted the West! Let me just present a few examples:
- Firstly, during the early days when ISIS came to the scene, ISIS were so “strong” that they took over Mosul with ease, and Baghdad was at imminent threat! The West used this situation to replace Maliki (who was a sticking point to participatory democracy) and replaced by Abadi. But where is the threat to Baghdad now?
- Another example is the burning of the Jordanian Pilot, at a time when the Jordanian masses including the Pilots family were against the Satanic coalition! There were slogans such as “Its not our War”, so why would ISIS drag Jordan back into the War?! And at the same time the UAE reaffirmed their commitment the US-led Satanic Coalition – So obviously this was used to enhance the public opinion and for King Abdullah to use it as a pretext to take active role in the coalition,
- Similarly, the video using the latest SFX which would even impress Hollywood directors, when ISIS of Libya executed 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians on the shores of the Mediterranean. This gave the green light to Sisi of Egypt to assist Haftar of Libya. Which was always part of the plan, but the release of the ISIS video provided the justification. Perfect timing! This was also used to heighten the fear amongst the Europeans.
These are just three incidents of many. These are hard facts which serve to prove that the ISIS leadership is in collaboration with the US. The worst thing about all of this is that there are some sincere Muslim youth who are being misled by this. And the US have been able to destroy the Muslims, their resources, and their infrastructure without sending out a single US troop.
Although the current US campaign appears to be physical, make no mistake the true battle is an intellectual one. This 60+ satanic coalition is against the Islamic ideology and not just ISIS. Sisi himself stated that,
“Egypt and the whole world are in a fierce battle with extremist groups carrying an extremist ideology and sharing the same goals”.
The single most important goal of the Greater Middle East Initiative (GMEI) is to secularise the Ummah. Secularisation is the absolute opposite of Islamic revival, because the one who embraces secularism has the viewpoint that his solutions come from man, but the one who is revived upon Islam embraces the viewpoint that all his solutions come from Allah. They are polar opposites.
In addition, if you keep the Ummah busy fighting and killing each other, then the climate becomes such that the Ummah is left in her own predicament and unable to achieve revival.
Battle of ideas
The best thing we can do as an Ummah is step away from America’s war and keep progressing on our journey towards revival. It is only through intellectual elevation or revival that will bring about an Islamic authority which will rival the Capitalist system. This is the very reason the West seek ways and means to curtail the Islamic revival. That is why the plain of the battle is primarily between thoughts and ideas because the process of revival occurs in the mind. The military they use is only to support this battle. Obama stated,
“In an age in which ideas and images can travel the globe in an instant, our response to terrorism cannot depend on military or law enforcement alone. We need all elements of national power to win a battle of wills and ideas.”
He even went as far as defining Islam for us,
“There is a strain of thought that doesn’t embrace ISILs tactics, doesn’t embrace violence…but does buy in to the idea that Islam is incompatible with modernity or tolerance or that it has been polluted by Western values.”
RAND (a US policy think tank) stated:
“The United states is involved in a war that is both a battle of arms and a battle of ideas. A war in which, ultimate victory, will be achieved only when extremist ideologies are discredited in the eyes of their host populations and passive supporters”
This clearly illustrates that the West seek to control the thoughts and ideas of the Islamic Ummah, because even they realise that when the Ummah completes her journey towards revival i.e. the Ummah’s reference point to all her solutions is the Islamic Aqeedah, and she yearns for a system which will protect her interests, then that will be the nail in the coffin of Capitalist hegemony.
Due to this existential threat, the West by necessity are having to go against the very freedoms that form the cornerstones of their ideology. But this should be no surprise, because the birth of capitalism was based on compromise, so compromising to ensure their existence is no big thing.
The West’s strategy in tackling non-violent extremism is nothing more than the concept of ‘Thought Police’. According the UK Counter Terrorism Strategy (CTS) people would be considered as extremists if:
- They advocate a Caliphate, a pan-Islamic state encompassing many countries.
- They promote Sharia law.
- They believe in Jihad, or armed resistance, anywhere in the world. This would include armed resistance by Palestinians against the Israeli military.
- They argue that Islam bans homosexuality and that it is a sin against Allah.
- They fail to condemn the killing of British soldiers.
These are fundamental aspects of Islam that make one Muslim. This strategy is not referring to only those who act upon these, you are guilty even if you believe in any of these things. Colleges, schools, prisons, GPs, councils, even nurseries will now have a legal duty to prevent people being drawn into terrorism. Universities will have to draw up policies on extremist campus speakers, and prisons will be required to have policies for dealing with radicals.
John Kerry stated,
“We cannot just work to put out fires Daash and other groups are igniting in the region and around the world…we have to actually prevent the ignition of those fires in the first place. That means the fight against violent extremists is not going to be fought on the battlefield. It’s going to be fought and won in classrooms, in workplaces, houses of worship, community centers, urban street corners and halls of government.”
So in every aspect of society, every corner of society they are seeking to control our thoughts. The so-called Western “Free” World is not so free. How ironic that they condemn the Gestapo (Nazi secret thought police), yet they have created one themselves? Believing fundamental aspects of Islam is considered ‘Thought Crime’ and the Muslims who are imprisoned without committing any violent act are considered ‘Thought Criminals’.
A War on Islam
On a global level the West have collectively launched the most aggressive campaign against Islam to frustrate and undermine the Islamic revival that they themselves sense. And they have exhausted all the means possible to fight this War on Terror which is nothing but a War on Islam. Why? Because they are fighting the basic fundamentals which makes one a Muslim, yet they fight it under the false guise of “Terrorism”. They also continue to fund moderate voices, through people, institutions or governments. For what purpose? For the purpose of selling an apolitical version of Islam devoid of aspects pertaining to society. A version of Islam which fits comfortably in the Western Secular framework.
In Obama’s recent speech in combatting extremism he has quite clearly put the burden of responsibility on Muslim leaders and scholars to counter the so-called “twisted” ideology. He said,
“Muslim leaders need to do more to discredit the notion that our nations are determined to suppress Islam, that there is an inherent clash of civilisations.”
Yet Allah tells us:
هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ
“It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the Deen of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all other Deens even though the Mushrikun (Disbelievers) hate (it).” ~ At Tawba, 33
So counter to Obama’s lies, Allah is telling us that Islam must and will dominate all other way of lives.
The West have by necessity been forced to establish a presence in the Muslim world through their proxy agent rulers who they place and replace as and when they see fit. And currently are using them to destroy the Muslims and our lands.
Let me explain, not through my words, but the words of the Western elite who are concerned about the existence or inevitable non-existence of the Capitalist way of life! Which is under threat from Islam! The threat to them is not the Hijaab, or the Niqaab, or segregation in Islamic events, or even halal meat. These are in fact manifestations or indications of the underlying threat. But let me quote to you the words of the very policy makers who have been driving the battle against Islam for a long time, and you tell me what their primary concerns are, and what keeps them awake at night.
When the first War On Terror was announced, George Bush (former US president) said,
“The militants believe that controlling one country will rally the Muslim masses, enabling them to overthrow all moderate governments in the region, and establish a radical Islamic empire that spans from Spain to Indonesia”
and Obama has referred to the same “Al-qaeda and ISIS ideology” in the most recent War on terror.
Vladimir Putin (the Russian President):
“The creation of a caliphate on the territory of the Russian Federation is only one part of their plan, in fact if you are following the situation, you surely know that the radicals are pursuing a larger goal, they are talking about the creation of a world caliphate”.
So those Muslims who believe there is some sort of ideological battle between Russia and the US should realise that the battle is in no way ideological, it is merely a battle of interests. Neither nation is questioning the basis of the capitalist ideology.
Cameron (UK Prime Minister) stated,
“We are dealing with a generational struggle caused by the perversion of one of the world’s great religions, Islam….This is not a threat on the far side of the world. Left unchecked, we will face a terrorist caliphate on the shores of the Mediterranean”
These are the words of the policy makers who devise initiatives on how to deal with the Muslim world, on how the Western world will achieve its objectives in securing their way of life and defeating any threat posed against it. The common theme which we see in all these quotes is against the very entity which will allow the Ummah to resume its Islamic way of life by implementing the Shariah, which will protect the Islamic ideology, and will propagate Islam to the rest of the World, liberating mankind from the shackles of Capitalism. This entity is the Caliphate (i.e. the Khilafah). The Khilafah is not the end in itself, it is the means to an end. The end is actually for the Ummah to complete her revival and resume the Islamic way of life and take Islam to the rest of the World. The Khilafah is the mechanism or vehicle that will allow us to achieve these objectives and fulfil the mission of Islam and the mission of Muhammad (SAW). And that is why they fear it so much.
All these deceptive and dangerous methods the colonialists are using serves to prove how far the Ummah has come in her revival. Ten years ago you could never imagine the West allowing for an actual Islamic State to be announced? It is an act of desperation from the West. Yes, they have used ISIS to demonise the concepts of Islamic State, Jihad, and Shariah, but how dangerous is it to bring these concepts into the public domain where Muslims are now actively debating these concepts to clarify in their minds what the true meaning of these concepts are, and what is the correct way of establishing them. Even scholars who would never talk about these concepts are being forced to speak about them and in many cases clarifying the true meanings.
No doubt the Ummah has come a long way, but there remains more to be done to achieve full revival – Which will become increasingly difficult as the West get more and more vicious in their ideological and physical attacks. As stated earlier, we as an Ummah must avoid being provoked emotionally by the plans of the West. Yes, the videos released by ISIS are gruesome and can easily lead to an emotional reaction to take revenge, but we must channel our anger to the enemies of Allah who are behind these. In addition, we must not judge the noble concepts of Islam on the basis of these treacherous groups, but judge them based on the Shariah sources. And finally, we must break our allegiances to the treacherous rulers who have been placed there by America, and give leadership to a sincere authority who will protect the interests of the Muslims by establishing the law of Allah and allow the Ummah to resume the Islamic way of life.
The power of the Islamic Aqeedah has placed Islam at the top of the international issues. This is because Islam is the only ideology capable of producing an alternative civilisation to Capitalism and its secular doctrine and will one day be victorious over it. Allah says,
وَلَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلًا
“And never will Allah grant to the disbelievers a way (of triumph) over the believers.”~ An-Nisa, 141
So no matter how aggressive the disbeliever’s attempts become, Allah will never allow the Muslims to be defeated. But we should not underestimate our efforts. No doubt one of the reasons the Ummah has continued her path towards revival is because of the persistence and efforts of the brothers around the world who have continually corrected the poisonous thoughts the West have attempted to spread. The aggression and hostility will no doubt increase but we must equally increase our efforts and commitment to support Allah’s Deen.
